The Island swim is a 3.8km river swim through the middle of the medieval centre of Limerick. The swim is around kings Island, a hugely significant Island in Limerick’s history. It is the only swim of its type other than the Liffey swim and has been running for ten years now.
The Island Swim 2024 will take place on the 14th of September with registration at 10.00 a.m.
Each year, we grow the Kings Island Swim into one of the premier open water swimming events in Ireland and over the last few years have donated over €17,000 to local children’s charities.
We are ready to go again for 2024 and all 400 places have been snapped up, showing the popularity of the swim.
The Event is organised by the Limerick Narwhals swimming Club, and all proceeds from the swim go to local charities.
Limerick Narwhals is a club of devoted winter and open water swimmers, founded in 2016. The club has gone from strength to strength.
It has represented Ireland in the world Ice Swimming championships. It counts among its members; Multiple Ice-milers, Oceans triple crown holders, a Guinness world record holder, English channel swimmers and cross-continental swimmers.
